June 24 - 28, 2019
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to teach American history and civics as well as develop volunteerism, community pride, and responsibility in our children. We aim to inspire the next generation with the extraordinary history of America and foster a sense of patriotism and respect for our country. We also hope that children return to their homes at the end of each day and share what they learned about our great nation with their family. What is Patriot Camp? Patriot Camp is a weeklong, morning day camp held at the end of June. Camp begins with a prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance, and singing the national anthem. Each day the camp hosts a community patriot (e.g. veterans, congressional representatives, police officers, search and rescue workers, and other community heroes) who shares their experiences with the children. Then the children move with their groups to hands-on educational stations, which are led by dynamic teachers and include themed crafts, games, and snacks. In addition, we do service projects, which have included making patriotic pillowcases, writing notes to veterans and collecting donations for the VA Medical Center in Lebanon, gathering food for New Cumberland Food Pantry, and collecting donations for New Cumberland River Rescue. |
